How Does a Blepharoplasty Work?
General anesthesia or IV sedation will be provided, depending on the type and complex nature of the blepharoplasty. Eyelid surgery may be done on the upper eyelid alone, on the bottom portion, or with a blend of both eyelids.
- Upper
Upper eyelid surgery assists in reducing the loose skin that droops over the eye to create a more awakened and appealing look. An incision is usually made along the natural crease to remove tissue and fat. - Lower
Lower blepharoplasty improves puffy and bulging skin under the lower eyelid. The incision is made along the lash line to allow access to remove fatty tissue, and the skin is gently lifted to allow for a flatter, smoother look. In some cases, a nonsurgical laser procedure may be applied to assist with discoloration while fillers can be used for more volume and smoothness if desired.
Blepharoplasty can last up to two hours considering whether one or both eyes are treated. After surgery, you should allow about a week to recover and rest at home. Ice packs can help reduce bruising and swelling. The results from eyelid surgery can last years, but while they are long-lasting, aging does not stop. I have fully recovered from my Diep flap procedure and reconstructive surgery from Dr. Stalder. I could not be happier with the outcome! Initially I was nervous to go thru the surgery because my situation was a little different. I had a prophylactic mastectomy with implants about 10 years ago and after multiple implant replacement surgeries due to issues, I also had a breast implant associated lymphoma scare. I had considered having a rhinoplasty for several years but was nervous that I would come out looking like a completely different person. Additionally, I had a severely damaged septum making it difficult to breathe through one side of my nose. I had Botox done by Dr Stalder and it has been the best Botox I’ve ever received. I’ve been to plenty of different kind of providers for Botox but Dr Stalder did the best I’ve ever had. He’s professional but also easy going and easy to talk to about what you’re looking for. Jess and the rest of the staff are great at taking care of you to help you get the appointment that works best for you and making sure you are happy with your results.
