This patient experienced severe capsular contracture following her initial implant reconstruction with another surgeon. Capsular contracture occurs when the scar tissue that naturally forms around a breast implant tightens and hardens, causing discomfort and distortion. Dr. Stalder removed the problematic implants along with the capsules, and performed a DIEP flap reconstruction, a technique that uses the patient's own abdominal tissue to create natural-looking, soft breasts.
